The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has
full responsibility for the funding and planning of Post-16 education and training
(excluding Higher Education). Its mission is to raise participation and attainment
through high quality education and training, which puts learners first. This
can only be achieved by working in partnership with other organisations that
have similar goals. The ‘View To A Future’ garden project encourages
collaboration between individuals and educational establishments in line with
the LSC mission and values. The two colleges involved are:
The Arts Institute at Bournemouth, which is
a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Lens-based Media and was awarded the Queens
Anniversary Prize for Film. Students from the Institute will be documenting
the project using digital video and photography. Kingston Maurward College
in Dorchester, Dorset, specialises in modern land based industries. Horticultural
students from the College will provide practical help to build and plant the
garden.
This unique experience will give students the opportunity to
expand their knowledge and experience and allow them to use their skills in
a practical way.
